Default Cant get thermal paste off

Im trying to do the Xclamp mod to my xbox so Im applying new thermal paste but the thermal paste thats on it is really sticky and doesnt come off well with 91% rubbing alcohol. is there anything else that would work better? I have to scrape the stuff off the heat sink its so bad lol

use sand paper, like 2500 grit.

That is what I used (91% alcohol) and it came of it takes some time to get it off with some q-tips.

Naphtha... aka Ronsonol... aka Lighter fluid... alcohol is a weak solvent. naphtha will actually break thermal compound down and will not hard anything.

a lot of the "TIM cleaners" are just a bottle of naphtha and a bottle of alcohol. use the naphtha to clean the compound and the alcohol to clean any residue.

Scrape it off with a bit of hard plastic card or heat it slightly with a hair dryer before wiping
