The point of his thread is so that threads like these won't keep coming up asking the same questions over and over... that's why it was stickied. Besides, not everyone is willing to go through the stickies, and just make the thread anyway.

From my understanding PWM controllers cant be used with my San Ace H101's or other non PWM supported fans. They will click at low/med fan speeds..

Controllers using PWM are actually fine. The advantage is they produce little, if any, heat. The only problem is you'll hear a pulsing or whining sound from the controller at lower voltages.

PWM based fan controllers cal also adjust the speed of fans using a 3-pin header (switches either the +12V or ground on/off at a high frequency); the downside is that if the switching is done on the +12V line then RPM sensor will not work, which is why most PWM fan controllers do the switching on the ground lead so this does not pose a problem. I have built my own PWM fan controller and can attest to the fact that at low speeds the fan can "growl" or "sing" based on the timing of the PWM clock cycle. PWM circuits have a timing capacitor and my changing that one can eliminate those noises.
