I've seen guys talk about this for a few months now. But I was always like, eh my hsf cools pretty well I don't need to add a pull fan. So tonight I said what the hell and gave it a go. It dropped my cpu temp nearly 10 degrees.

whoa. And I thought the improvement was 1-2c drop. Interesting. Most impressive.

My cpu sits around 31c idle (surfing da net). With the added fan it is now sitting at 25c. Ambient is 21c. And it is OC'd 900mhz!

The improvement depends on how much you're pushing your heatsink. On my system at 3.75GHz 1.35V, the extra pull fan only made a 3ēC difference. If you heatsink is hot enough the pull fan will make a difference.

That is true, but I think my Xigi stock fan doesn't have great static pressure to start with. So adding the second fan makes the difference.

True, static pressure plays a huge role.

Idle temps tend to be off...what did it do for your load temps dkev? Oh and your fish story got smaller LOL...started out with 10 then went to 6c drop
![]() Just giving you crap but that is still awesome...and surprising because the DK fan actually has decent static pressure. Did you happen to dust out your HSF or fans while you were setting up the 2nd one to help temps also?

I should also say, that I remounted the Xigy fan. I knew I was loosing a lot of air through the gap between the fan and the heatsink because of the rubber mounts. Now the fan sits flush to the heatsink. I think that really has a big impact on the cpu temp drop.

Actually, if you make a shroud you should decrease temperatures even more. This is because the circular area of the motor is a deadspot and no air flows from that. If you add a little space air will go through the middle of the heatsink too.
