rheobus @ cosmos s frontpanel mesh mod, hint to the op, grab yourself a cheapo soldering iron and some old 3pin heads, solder the cables together, and voila no more stupid, ugly, useless 4 pin molex's. i can only suggest that, as it cleans up your cable clutter and you can extend the wires and such. it doesnt take much to solder 2 cables together sleeve the fans after which isnt difficult either. would be my suggestion.

side note:
http://jab-tech.com/3pin-to-4pin-Ada...t-pr-1510.html
that is the adapter the op needs to grab power of the 3pin to his 4 pin fans. not the one mentioned earlier!

without rpm control :

If op decides to go with a Rheobus, heres your shopping list:

Okay, so I've decided that I am going try and win that Vantec Nexus NXP 205 on ebay. If I don't get it, I'll try and get a Rheobus. Lets hope I win cause the bidding stops tomorrow.

Careful with using molex-to-3 pin connectors. On a lot of fan controllers, doing this can limit the maximum RPM's of your connected fans.

I have the NZXT Sentry LX, and I had to replace all of the molex fans in my Antec 900 with Thermaltake A2018's. When using a converter, the maximum RPM's on my stock TriCool's wouldn't go above 1100, and they were rated much better than that.

Also, of course, even if you have 3-pin fans, make sure they're all variable-speed fans. I bought MassCools and Rosewills before I realized that neither supported variable RPM's, so my NZXT couldn't control them.

The connectors do not limit the power draw...at least not at this low of a wattage level. The problem you were having was due to running your fans on a low quality fan controller. The NZXT Sentry LX only supplies 4 watts per channel which will limit most decent fans max RPM.

Also, when using a standard fan controller like any of the Rheobus models a variable speed fan isn't necessary as it controls the amount of voltage going to the fan not actually using the variable speed sensor (like a CPU fan header would). What you are referring to is the RPM sensor, this is not a necessary piece to the operation of the fan but if your fan controller displays RPM then you will need that 3rd lead to help transfer the information from the fan to the fan controller. Even if your fan controller displays RPM and you don't have that 3rd wire the fan will still operate it just will not show the RPM.

You're right, thanks for the clarification

Despite that maximum wattage for the Sentry, I can run my A2018's around the 1800 RPM range no prob., which is loud enough...never had a reason to try to go their max RPM's with a Dark Knight and AS5'd GPU's as it wouldn't make any difference with temps. I actually keep them around 1300 RPM's most of the time, even for casual gaming.

But yes, for those looking to run their fans consistently past the 2000-2200 RPM range and even on max speed, definitely consider a different fan controller than the Sentry LX...one that has at least 6W per channel.

Yea the max RPM for the A2018 is 2800 so your definitely limiting the fan. Which is obvious when you look at the wattage pull based on RPM of that fan:

2.4~5.76W
1300-2800RPM

and your controller only gives 4W so 1800 RPM is probably about right.

Thanks guys for your help, but I won the bid on the Vantec Nexus Paid $12.50 for it But if anything doesn't work, hopefully not, I'll go with my second option, the sunbeam.
