Panaflos are great fans too, no doubt. Easier to get than San Ace, good bearings, high quality. I was looking for a higher performing alternative to San Ace at a lower price (I only want to use one), and the Panaflo did not really fit the bill since the SP is about the same as the San Ace, plus it is more expensive than the Sunon.

After owning two 80mm vantec tornado's w/ fan controller I won't buy another fan that I feel needs a controller. I like fans that I can run 100% all the time.

I can't speak for any other fans, but the Ultra Kaze @ 100% all the time is a good sound level for me.

I agree, I don't like to undervolt my fans either. If I want a quieter fan, I'll just buy one that is lower RPM/CFM at 12V. It's simpler NOT to have a fan controller. Simple is good...
