Default 2 5v fans + 1 12v using 1 molex..?

Like the title says: How many fans can I run off of one molex?

Here's a picture of what I mean (attached).

It' 2 5v 80mm (side panel and under graphics card) and one 12v one the graphics card itself.

Please forgive the poor quality of the pictures--my HandyCam hates indoor shooting.

Thanks for any input guys.

Edit" I also have the option of running the heat sinks fan at 5v also. Would 3 5v fans daisy chained be better?

You can wire as many as you want. However, if you wire them in a parallel arrangement you will get equal voltage but less current. In series you will get less voltage same current. I can run three fans off one molex without disrupting it's performance. Most likely you could run 5 fans off one molex rail.

Thanks. I have to go back in and clean it up a bit. The mod turned out a bit different--XFX sure makes things difficult for modders

I may or may not finish it today. But I'll start cleaning up that thread.

Thanks for the input guys.

As long as you don't surpass current limits you can indefinitely daisy chain fans (it isn't always the greatest idea though).

Heh, I remember somebody from this forum chaining 7-8 peripherals, not sure if they were all fans, but I remember seeing around 8 molexes being chained in one of his pictures.

If...
This the 12v rail...
Using 16AWG wiring...
Made out of copper...
With the total wire length being 5ft...
And maintaining a maximum of 5% voltage drop...

The maximum current would be 14.4A or 172.8w. Assuming you are just using 5w fans, you can run up to 34 fans.

If you repeat the above with aluminum wiring, the maximum current would be 7.4A or 88.8w

Wow...

Sounds good.

I went in and changed the 1 12v fan to 5v and I'm going to did around in the back of my case and see what I have tucked away behind the mobo tray. I just hate having to rewire...
