Ok guys so lately after I overclocked my system from (2.8ghz 266FSB) to (4.0ghz 400FSB) I have been monitoring my temps with HWmonitor while stress testing with prime95, The TEMPIN1 which is the Northbridge temp has gone up to 76'C max when I was stress testing the system for stability.
__________________To the touch I placed a finger over it for less than 5 seconds (idle) and it burned my finger (literally). The thing is very hot, I have been wondering if it is because of the FSB increase or because of the MCH voltage increase (increased it from 1.100v to 1.160v for stability). Or are these Temps normal for a p45 Chipset? I have been thinking on replacing the stock heatsink with an aftermarket one, I came across a great deal on a Thermalright HR-05 IFX but I have been wondering if it will fit since I recently installed a OCZ Vendetta2 cpu cooler. Also There is a Noctua U6 chipset heatsink fora gratt price as well but for now I am leaning towards the Thermalright. Here are a few pictures of my current setup, Id like to know If I really need an aftermarket heatsink as well as if it will fit: ![]() ![]() Oscar.

Just get a small fan to blow on it; that's what I did.
![]() I used a 40mm fan on my old motherboard, it worked pretty well. It looks like you could maybe fit an 80mm fan in there, though.

If I have an idea on how much cooler compared tp stock will it run I may just buy the thermalright since I am getting it almost at a fraction of the cost. Also does the FSB rise increases the heat of the northbridge? my board is rated for 1600fsb but it is very hot. Otherwise I will use a little fan on the HS.

I can get the Thermalright HR-05 IFX for the same price as the antec spotcool fan.

You sure Temp1N1 = NB on HWMonitor?
If so where did you find this info that refers to Temp1N1 as NB on P45? Thanks edit> Last edited by M1 Abrams : 4 Weeks Ago at 04:40 PM |

spot cool is the best way to go but honestly it's not necessary.

Temp1N0 is the system temp and Temp1N1 is the northbridge/chipset temp.

Wondering if it will fit without problems on this board, here is an example on someone using a similar board, but first i'd like to confirm. http://www.overclock.net/air-cooling...zer7-bolt.html
