Default Yate Loon not compatible with Kaze Master?

I have some 120mm Yate Loon fans running offof a Scythe Kaze Master fan controller.

After about a year, one of the channels on the fan controller quit working properly. It's still sending power to the fans, but when I turn the knob, it doesn't do anything. The fan speed has been fluxuating and gradually dropping. This one channel was running at about 1700 RPM, then dropped to 1600 RPM, and is now at 900 RPM. It has spiked back up periodically, but I have no control over the speeds.

I contacted Scythe to see if I could get the fan controller repaired. When he provided the RMA number, the service person mentioned that I should switch fans because Yate Loon fans seem to not be compatible with the Kaze Master.

So, I have 2 questions:

1) Huh? Really? Never heard of a fan not being compatible with a fan controller as long as the amperage was within spec (i.e. didn't draw more than the controller puts out). Has anyone else heard this before?

2) Can someone recommend some cheap alternatives? I like the Yate Loon fans because they're inexpensive, push lots of air, and are quiet. If I do a fan swap, I'd like to keep the cost around $5/fan and want blue LEDs.

I've never heard that before. Did they say why they are not compatible?

Yates draw a low to average amperage so I can not see how this could be. Maybe if you strung 3 or 4 together.

He didn't do any diagnostics or anything. He just asked for a copy of my invoice/receipt and what brand of fans I use.

He also didn't give any reason why they weren't compatible. All he said was that "Yate Loons seem to not be compatible with our fan controllers."

I asked him if he could elaborate as to why and if he had any recommendations (I know that he's going to recommend a Scythe fan ) and will post back if he replies.

So, who knows if or when I'll hear back...

YL's not compatible with a fan controller?
that's like saying YL programmed their fans to be nemesis of Scythe controllers?
that's utter rubbish

Kaze Master is overpriced and underperform controller, I paired it up with two
3k kaze ultra fans and I ended burn up the controller 3 times in the next 3 months. I end up with a new fan controller the rhobus works a lot better, so far for 3months still working.

Do you mean you had 2x 3k Ultra Kaze for one channel? That would be a little over 14watts which it only handles 12 watts per channel. Of course if you just used 1 fan per channel then you just had some bad luck...not that your wrong in saying its an overpriced under-performer but I just wanted to clear up any inconsistencies

No, cause I only use the 5V due to the noise and put them on separate channel.
