Dang, that original base looks horrible. When will Thermalright realize that they will be the kings again once their heatsinks come factory lapped? I'm sure it isn't that hard to do, Xigmatek is now doing it.

That's very shiny, but not flat sorry to say. You can clearly see distrotion in the reflections.

I'd take 800 grit flat over 1600 grit shiny anyway. Do the razor blade test on it and see if there are any spaces from corner to corner.

I went up to 2000 I think and mine doesn't look as good nice work! Flatness is what counts but that shine sure make you feel better about all that lapping.
