For $5.00 can't go wrong but it's probably better suited for a htpc setup.
I used that on my first Intel C2D E6400 and it didn't do well keeping it cool at stock speedsd. In fact I just sold it a few months ago along with a Intel C2D E2160 cpu.

i installed it and it appears to be running only a few degrees cooler than normal, i think i need to adjust my intake/exhaust though. i still got a 4degree drop in temp from normal (its now idling right around 38-40 instead of 44-48)

a stock 125w phenom heatsink with the heatpipes should be better than that.

only if you're going to replace a stock heatsink without the heatpipes. but i think it won't make a difference since the vortex is old and had been out since the P4 days. get it only if you're replacing such stock heatsink. but the stock heatsink of the 550be is fine even without the heatsink. just max its fan.
