Default V8 on 920 stock temps?

I'm going through a build right now....

i7 920, stock clock... with a Coolermaster V8 attached. Ambient room temp is 23.8 C

Cores are varying from 47-52C... that just doesn't settle well with me... Is that normal for these chips to run so damn hot?

it should be running significantly lower. reapply the v8, make sure you have it on right and use just a little bit of TIM (about the size of a grain of rice)

My friends i7 920 with stock clocks and a stock HSF runs 45C idle, about 55C load.

Which TIM are you using? if it's AS5 it requires a 200 hour burn in time to settle. OCZ freeze and others dont.

If it helps any I have CM V8 ambient room temp @ 22 and everything at stock is 39 38 40 39 idle and 69 66 66 68 on 100% load with prime 95. When I OC to 4.0 1.35v its 40 39 40 41 idle and 82 79 80 81 100% load with prime 95.
So I'd say ya seems to be a little on the high side.
