It doesn't work that way.

Look at the Crossbar clip and how it passes through on the DK. One part of the clip grabs the top part of the socket, and the other part grabs the bottom part of the socket to hold the cooler down.

That crossbar would need to pass around the heatpipes or through them to mount so it blows out the back of the case.

This is how a Xigmatek S1283 mounts on an AMD Mobo. (Unless the CPU socket is turned 90*

Trust me, unless he used the Enzotech bracket and modded it, or he got a custom bracket from somebody, it only mounts that way.

EDIT: Also, FYI, that's an old pick of my setup, right after I got my board and was just testing the bare essentials.

I helped him install purchase and build the whole setup so I know we didn't use an aftermarket bracket so I could just be remembering incorrectly....I do remember clamping down the DK on the top side of the mobo though so front back installation doesn't sound right....but I also feel like I remember seeing it in his case with the fan looking at me from the front....was a while ago and I don't have the best memory so...again thanks for entertaining my Alzheimers

Cooler Master Hyper n520 is pretty quite and cools fairly well.

The ZEROtherm Nirvana NV120 is your best bet. Does as well as the OCZ Vendetta 2, Xigmatek Red Scorpion/S1283/Dark Knight. It's also only 148mm tall.
they all seem nice, i've also considered 9700 nt(zalman) or the BTF92(zerotherm), since they're also under 150mm....

which one of them 5 would cool better? lower noise?

and does 4 pin or 3 pin fan control matter?

i don't care if it shines LED or not, my case isn't transparent anyway.

I use the CM GeminII S cpu with a overclocked wolfdale E6300 with a scythe s-flex G fan. It keeps my E6300 cool & you won't be disappointed with it.

The ZEROtherm Nirvana NV120 would be the quietest and cool the best out of all of them.
