Default Is there any 120mm Fan+Heatsink under 150mm tall?

i've been looking around a lot, the only heatsink that i find that are under 150mm tall are the 110mm fan heatsinks...

most if not all other 120mm fan are with heatsinks that are 156mm+++

any good recommendation that are under 150mm tall???

im just thinking that 120mm fan might be better than 110mm cuz it dun needa spin as loud to get same airflow.

What case do you have?

Cooler Master Gemini II S will fit almost any case and cools really well.

Cooler Master Hyper n520 is pretty quite and cools fairly well.

The ZEROtherm Nirvana NV120 is your best bet. Does as well as the OCZ Vendetta 2, Xigmatek Red Scorpion/S1283/Dark Knight. It's also only 148mm tall.

It does

S1283 doesn't cool as well as DK due to the fan installed...idk about the rest but Zerotherm doesn't quite look as good...got a source on this?

OCN Testing, and Anand has an article too.

It's main advantage for AMD systems is it's ability to cool & mount in the East/West or Left/Right (depending on how you want to look at it) orientation.

Hrmmm...pretty skeptical on all that sorry to say....idk just doesn't look right with all the temps being so close from a TRUE to a vendetta when we all know the difference in temps between the two are quite a bit more then that....of course we are talking about a x6800 not an i7 but also the OP doesnt have a hot CPU either...meh...good option at least.

That's a non-modded TRUE. That's why. (IE, no Lap/pressure mods.)

Trust me, the cooler is credible. The NV120 is very close to the S1283. The fan needs to be cranked on it. But it's got a better fan the the original S1283/Red Scorpion.

The DK doesn't mount correctly (IE blowing out the back) on AMD sockets so it's not really worth it.

Thanks for the education Tator. The DK installed on my buddies UD3P installed pushing air to the back exhaust fine, your referring to the AM2 socket mobos? Not all up to speed on AMD stuff unfortunately....

How is the noise profile? It doesn't look like you could replace the fan with a shrouded style fan...?

Yeah AMD Mobo's with the AM# Sockets (IE AM2/AM2+/AM3 as it's all the same mount)

The noise profile is a little hard to explain. It's not a winy fan. Nor does the fan have alot of noise from the barring, but it does have a large "woosh" profile of the air moving when on high.

IIRC, you can force a new fan into that wedge of space and hold it in with Zipties (a new 120mm for reference.)

So....I don't get it your saying my buddies UD3P mobo was not supposed to be able to install the DK front to back? But we did...with no extra bracket purchased....

EDIT: Sorry he had a UD4P
