Using a CPU fan as a case fan - possible ?

New to Overclock.net
|
I got one off these to use as a case fan
: ![]() Thought it would come with a 3pin connection or 4 molex but it came with one off these: ![]() 4 pin connection black yellow green blue How do I or can I use this as a case fan? Is there some sort off a converter form 4pin molex to this 4 pin? Whats that sort off connector called? Answering any off them will help me... What do I do? Thanks for any help or advice given!

Yes you can use it as a case fan. Just plug the black yellow green wires in. (The blue will hang over the fan header.)

you'll just have to cut the plastic that's in your way on the fan header or the adapter cable header... or.. *gasp* buy the right adapter...
the 4th wire is just for speed control... no big deal.

You don't need a converter. Black, Yellow, Green is the same as a 3-pin Black, Red, Yellow. Just plug it in using the correct orientation and you're good to go. The fan will run at full speed if plugged into the motherboard 3-pin fan header (assuming 12v).
__________________Or you could just re-wire it with a 3-pin plug.
