Default Cpu cooler for i7

First before you post read properly

I currently am on stock cooling for my intel i7 skt 1366. I have scythe mugen 2 cpu cooler. I am not going to fit it as i think its a joke what you have to do to fit the damn thing.... SO my question is what is really easy to fit like the stock cooler but has good cooling at the same time to keep my temps down at 4.0Ghz????

Cheers for any help

That's a shame in regards to the Mugen-2; a good cooler, but the install is a bit "hard". Still, the Mugen does offer good performance for the buck.

If you want an easy installation process and great cooling performance in the realm of air cooling, then the Megahalems would be the pick.

Megahalems is good but you need to install the backplate for it.

I just installed my Megahalems today, and it couldn't have been any easier.

I just took the top six screws out of my mobo, then slid the backplate in through the hole in the mobo tray. (Which isn't quite lined up for the 1366 on the HAF932)

I had considered the MUGEN2 as well, but I didn't want to take the load plate off, etc. Much more risky work than I wanted to do with my new stuff.

Nothing decent. The Megahalems is easy, but in a CM 690 you will have to take the motherboard out of the case, as far as I recall there is no cutout in the back of the 690 mobo tray. It is worth it though, the Mega has the best mounting system I have seen.

Its better to have a back plate because the large heatsinks are pretty heavy and would warp the board to an extent. The black plate provides better support. Installation of the back plate is annoying, but lots of the newer case have cutouts which makes life a wee bit easier. Like oxymorosis, its worth the effort and time.

Right so, the megahalems is it this one? http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=HS-000-PL

So you have to take the motherboard out fit the bracket and not tamper with anything else ? Not the socket on the motherboard or anything?

Yes, that is the Megahalems. Since you have a 1366 motherboard, the backplate goes on the back and comes up through the holes where you normally install the push-pin cooler for the stock i7 heatsink. Then you folllow the directions to put the rest of the stuff on.

Having a sturdy backplate is better for the motherboard as it reduces stress to the motherboard. I have a Zalman 9500 on an old P4 with the stock bracket and it bends the motherboard a lot (no back plate).
