Default Finally got a decent Fan Controller

I have a pair of 3k Ultra Kaze's and a pair of 2000 RPM Antec tri-cools in my case. Until now, I was using makeshift controllers on the Ultra Kaze (namely two Zalman fanmates that only ran the Kaze at up to 2500 RPM) and no way to control the Antec Tri-cools externally.

Enter the Sunbeam Rheobus Extreme.

A few highlights:

30w per channel provided on each of its six ports.

A wide variety of connecting wires (two 4 pin and two 3 pin included).

An RPM indicator for the CPU connector on the motherboard.

An all black frame... Sounds simple but most internal devices (DVD roms, card readers, etc) are metal color internally. If you have a case like mine that has black internals, its a nice bonus that the fan controller is all black as well.

Has blue LED indicators that increase in intensity as you dial up the fans.

I'll be installing it shortly but given the reviews I have read, I expect stellar performance.

I even have two left over connectors (even though there is nowhere else to jam a fan in this case).

For $35 CAD, it seems like a heck of a deal.

I looked at the lamptron 4 ch as well but seeing as the sunbeam was slightly cheaper for 6 channels, it made sense.

Hahaha just received and installed my Rheobus (4ch). Its great but I am going to have to buy some green LEDs off ebay to switch out the blue/red ones. And to match them with the Green of my CM 690 Nvidia. The blue is just too bright.

Other than that it looks amazing on my case.

Installed and working flawlessly

Couple of things to note:

Improved my wire management. The 4 fan extension wires allowed me to re-work the 4 connected fans to be routed almost out of sight.

The rheobus actually dials fan RPM down to zero if desired.

How is this a good thing? In my case, I could in theory turn off my two antec tri-cool LED fans (thus turning off their LED's). My case has an LED shut off for the 3 included 200mm blue LED fans and my cpu fans are non-LED. Therefore at the sacrifice of some of my airflow, I can have a dark system (handy for late at night).

Otherwise, the fans are running where I want them to.

BTW, one of the reviews I read mentioned a lack of LED's on the two exterior controller knobs and some loose heatsinks in the back. On this unit, both issues have been resolved.

Except for the fact that the laser beams from the Rheobus will beam your kneecaps off LOL...of course once you mod them, yes you can have a dark system

EDIT: Oh...you have them dialed all the way down so the lights on it shut off as well....do mine do that....

Been a while since I dialed any of my fans that far down.
