Default Noise difference between a 120mm and 92mm fan?

How much if any of a noise difference would there be between a 120 and 92mm fan? I ask because i am looking at getting a new HS/fan for my xeon. The ones i am looking at are the Noctua nh-u12dx and the u9dx. The 12 has the 120 fan and the 9 has the 92 fan. Also the 9 has a smaller hs. i guess the other thing to consider is that the fan on the larger hs would not work as hard.

If you flow the same amount of air, the 92 will be a lot louder.

Go with a 120mm fan design HS, you'll appreciate the overall cooling and quietness compared to a 92mm design

This. The larger your fan, the less noise it takes to move the same amount of air.

The 120mm HSF also has a lot more surface area.
