Default Mugen 2 Temps going crazy

I just installed the heatsink, when running prime95 it jumps up to 80 degree then shuts off my computer. I put silver artic 5 thermal paste and the fan is spinning. Why is this happening?

Most likely it's not been mounted correctly.

Take it off, clean the old TIM off the CPU and heatsink, apply it again and remount. I had issues like this with my Q6600 a while back.

This is the method I use, and it's never failed me yet.

I'm sure someone more wise and experienced that I will have some more valued input.

YouTube- How do you apply Artic Silver 5 ?

Did exactly what you said and it WORKED. Full Load is 45F

I hope that temperature is normal for an E8600.

Thanks.

Wow! Awesome results! Glad that worked out for you...only thing is you meant 45c not F

Otherwise you would be below ambient which is impossible....however your temps seem great and I think you need higher clocks.
