Hi, I live in Australia and the weather can get deathly in summer. I have a 200mm fan strapped on to the side of my PC along with a 120mm at the front and one at the back for exhaust. Though, this makes little difference as the air is still hot. So I was wondering if anyone here new of a device that cools the air as it comes through. I know there are ones for this, but they require water cooling. Thanks in advance

I take it your house has no central air? You could buy a air conditioner for the room your computer is in.

I know what you mean,
last week it was getting close to 40'c here in Newcastle. The only real way to cool the air entering your computer is to install an air conditioner to lower the ambient temperature of the room the computer is in. Other than that i don't think there's much else you can do, even with water cooling your idle temps are still going to be a few degrees above ambient unless you went with some sort of evaporative set up which would still only get you slightly below ambient and probably be quite expensive. We have no air conditioning in our house and on a hot day my idle temps can get in the high 40's, meaning CPU temperatures easily reach 60'c + in CPU intensive applications; games and movie/music converting for example. So i suppose, unless your willing to fork out for an air conditioner or some other elaborate cooling system for your computer, just make sure your room is well ventilated, your case is dust free and if possible refrain from CPU intensive applications on those hot days.

it's 31 degree's today at melbourne. what i can recommend you to do is to keep your computer out of the sun. Keep your casing in a cool area and if you wouldn't mind a 30" fan running facing your CPU where it would get noisy, i'll say go with it. =)
I stay in a student accommodation so i have no air-conditioner, so i use a fan that i picked up at BIG-W for $19.90 one of those box fans which blows into my intake.

25C. I've seen it go to 45C when playing NFS Shift. But when summer comes I'm getting myself a room A/C.

I want to be 18 right about now I wrote that about a year ago. Now look at my first rig after I found a job in my signature! I love buying things for myself and not waiting for someone to give stuff to me.

The only solution I can offer is to begin underclocking your CPU and get a fan in your room so at least you can reduce heat build-up by improving air circulation, though the ambient temperature will always be your limiting factor.

Air con isn't really an option as I'm 15, living with my parents. Though, under clocking isn't really a an issue either. It's not that my CPU is overheating, it's doing quite well overclocked it is my gpu temps. I'm gonna do a Vmod and at stock the temps are pushing 50, on load (with fan on low but the fan doesn't make much difference, I've heard, on a vf900). I'm used to getting 44 on load. Maybe I'm getting a bit picky but I guess I'll just get an extra 120mm on the front and perform a case mod. It'll be fun
(said geekishly). Then I'll switch my side fan to exhaust.(with my pending gpu mod the temps can't pass 55) Thanks for the help, though.
