Both my Yate Loons get pretty warm at the top hub where the blades are connected (can't feel the bottom because its on a radiator). They are 2200RPM 12v .30a. If it's the bottom that has the sticks connecting to the outer frame, its the circuit board, not the bearing itself.

nah, it's the bearings.
the oil cover side is only slightly warm. with all fans thats normal
well i guess it's okay then since my elderly NMB fan gets that hot and still runs well.

This is normal. These fans have had their voltage increased by CM so they can spin at 2000rpm. It's nothing to be concerned about. I have 4 green ones in my scout and 2 red ones in my wife's pc. Her's runs 24/7 without issue.

i take it you mean ampereage increased :P 12V remains as 12V still.
okay.. that explains the heat.
but by any chance could these be the CM 120mm 0.12A quiet fans with more power and different blades?
the 0.12A ones are whisper quiet and at the same time really gay because there's barely any airflow.
