I just wasted S$11 of my parents' money by buying a 120mm CoolerMaster red LED fan, because i don't even need one.
Anyway, yes, the store has a no-return policy or whatsoever - I just bought it on a whim. I'd just like to ask if anyone here has the same problem - I understand that fans, of all things, contain squillions of moving parts and it's only natural for them to get heated up. The fan in question spins at a claimed 2000RPM (CM's claims) and runs on 12V at 0.37A. It's a reasonably okay 120mm fan. I left it to run free air for half an hour, to cool me off after some unseemly exercise (read: climbing stairs), and I noticed that after I switched it off, the rear hub was rather hot. It wasn't 'ouch-I-scalded-my-pinky' hot, but yes it's reasonably hot compared to my 24/7 100% speed AVC fans. The fan is new from the factory, has not been used before, and if this helps in any way, was manufactured on the 5th of June this year. Can anyone diagnose the problem so at least I'll know if it's in dire need of premature oiling or something, or does everyone else experience the same thing? This is the fan in question: ![]() It has nine blades in total - and looks like a turbine engine.

It's because the LEDs are red that it's running hot.
You should've got blue ones.

Ugh I hate LED fan's. I had a gigabyte case that had 3 blue LED fans and they bothered me so much I cut off the LED's. Now my cases have no bling. I even changed out power and hdd LED on my case to some that aren't quite so bright.

bad bearings in the fan?
the manufacturer might be able to help if the store wont.

I have 11 of these beauties in my case and none of them are even warm to the touch, they are all pretty much room temperature. I would say you have a faulty fan.

the fan itself is fine, just that i find the hub gets a little too hot at times, like my NMB 60mm one.
