Ok so the other day I lapped my i7, and used MX-3 Tim. I've replaced the fan in the v8 with one of these http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...ducts_id=24586
__________________I use the Asus AI to regulate the fans RPM, running Prime 95 I get a steady 58-60c under load ambient room temp is 21c. My results before the lap of my i7 was hitting 75+ under same settings. So I'm wondering has anyone lapped there v8 and if so what results did it yield? I knew the i7 would bennifit from a lap but I'd like to hear if anyone has any input on the v8 before I dedicate 3-4 hours of tedious labour.

I am actually wondering the same thing. I recently swapped out a CM Hyper N 520 for the CM V8. I swapped out the stock fan in the V8 for this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835103063 . I was actually thinking about putting this in, but it's a little overkill in my opinon, too loud for my taste, and it would be hard to constitute paying that much for a fan: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835706032 . I noticed that the bottom of the V8 is very flat, so I'm unsure if it would benefit at all from lapping. I would really like to lap my i7 at least, I'm just a little worried that I could mess something up.

tbh with the mounting that the v8 uses and the fact it already has an ultra flat base i wouldn't bother unless you have scratched it. just my 2p

I got this kit http://www.easypckits.com/products/premiumlk/ When I lapped the i7 i got water in the processor on top of the pins, it got really messy. I used water on the sand paper at the 10 mircon grit to pollish it, with all the mess after a it of cleaning with paper towel and letting it dry for an hour it worked put back together. So I wouldnt worry about anything going wrong lol. Also I would get the Delta, overkill.. no such thing besides if you use a program to control teh fan speed it will only be loud when you need it. Even at the lowest RPM it still moves a ton more air then the stock fan and is actually quieter at low speed.
