Default HS Direction

Is there any benefit of having the HS attached with the fans blowing from right to left as apposed to having the fans blowing upwards?

From the random pic's I have seen about 90% of people opt for a right to left flow and only about 10% of people going for the upwards flow.

I currently have a 120mm exhaust on the rear and a 200mm exhaust on the top. Would I therefore be better to have the HS heat directed at the larger fan?

because most of the time people pull air in from the front of the case and exhaust the air out of the rear of the case. moving the air from the cpu this way only make sense

??
Having the HS positioned so the fans are blowing upwards would keep the air flowing in a directional manner, but instead of going out the rear it would mainly leave through the top exhaust.

That picture is right....for that case. Cool air in from the front to; psu, gpu, then up and half over the RAM half drawn into the hsf and expelled from the rear, the cool air going over the RAM gets expelled out of the top as warmer air. But that's just for that case.

Other cases have the blow hole further back. Some have top mounted psu's. In either case it still makes sense to have the hsf facing the back to not throw warm air into the psu or have it hit the top and recirculate what the (further back) blow hole doesn't catch and expel.

The biggest point people usually have it pulling from right to left (front to back) is due to the fact they will not be pulling hot air from their GPUs into their CPU heatsink. Most people attempt to have an upper front fan that blows air directly towards the CPU as well which gives a "clean" air flow straight from the intake.
