Default paintable fans?

first off id like to say, mods please move this if there is a better spot for this thread

okay so basically im going to do a white/purple mod with my haf thats coming soon. i want an led fan that is decent and allows for the blades to be removed to paint. my nzxt tempest's fans allow this but the r4's i have dont. LED color doesnt matter because ill swap them out as i did with my tempest's fans.

i hope you guys have ideas because i cant seem to find any...well i did but they were mediocre fans and were over 20usd each!

all fans have removable blades.
you just gotta lift the oil cap and use some sharp picks to remove the o-rings that hole the shaft to the bearing. then bring the blade assembly out to paint, replace, and replace the o-rings.

Recommend against painting, an uneven paint job can throw the blades off balance and drastically reduce the life and efficiency of your fan.

you could try turning them on when they are still wet, it'd theoretically throw off any excess paint and make a big mess in the process, Would be kinda funny though. Lolz

I sense a new method of abstract painting on the horizon.

Place canvas next to paint covered fan
Turn on fan
????
Profit!

that would completely mess up the frame as well. instead of getting a clean look you'd be getting the 'oh crap i just knocked the darn bucket over' kinda paintjob.

one blade, one colour. so fans with more blades will benefit more

gotta be prudent when painting though.. i wouldn't see this as a problem if one layer of paint was used, or if the shaft and hub were tightly sealed, and only the impellers exposed, then dipped into a bucket of paint. sans frame of course - it's part of the removal process.

well i cant figure out hot to remove the blades on this fan i have laying around. i painted 3 of my tempest's fans and 2 came out perfectly and 1 got a piece of hair in the paint and it makes a slight humming sound when spinning. i used 2 coats of plastic primer and 3 coats of water-based fluorescent spray paint(very thin)

Rather than paint them, dye the plastic. It'll ensure a more even distribution, and it'll look great.
