My prescott runs at 52 celcius idle and 68 at load. I have a 7700 copper on it atm, would I get better results with a Big Typhoon?

Reseat it with proper AS5 but yes a Big typhoon should be better than the Zalman, try to reseat it first with barely any AS5.

Are you using AS5? Or you just have the regular thermal paste?
Also have you tried (as OzziKing said) reseating your heatsink?

DO NOT buy the refurbished Big Typhoon, unless you already have the mounting brackets that are required for installation, because they do not come with the OEM Big Typhoon.
But yea, if you have enough room to fit the gigantic heatsink (clearance between CPU socket and PSU, any capacitors in the way?, and side panel clearance) definitely look into purchasing it.

I had a 660 prescott with the typhoon never went past 48c under load, also have a 650 prescott same results, as for the zalmans I have three differant ones they don't even get close to the typhoon.

Hmmm... My Skt.478 3GHz Prescott ran @ 63°C full load when at stock speeds with the stock Intel cooler and stock thermal pad... 67°C with after-market cooling sounds very wrong indeed... I would suggest you double check how your CPU cooler is seated and make sure it is flush with the CPU IHS with nothing keeping it (even slightly) away from the IHS face. If you're not already using AS5 I would also recommend that as well, it reduced my temps by 3°C initially and 5°C after it cured.
Also, if you don't have one already, make sure to cut a hole in your case side panel right next to your CPU cooler's fan and mount a fan in the hole so it can feed your CPU cooler with cool air from outside the case. Doing this with my case (when I used air cooling) dropped my temps by 3°C at full load. If you're looking into getting another CPU air cooler, you may want to have a look at the Thermalright XP-90, with the nickel-plated copper base. I found that this cooler could keep my pressy at 68°C full load when @ 4GHz with 10% extra v-core, which is pretty damn good for air cooling imo. If all else fails, go for a nice entry level water cooling kit. My BigWaterSE keeps my 3GHz Pressy @ 63°C full load when running at 4GHz with 7.5% extra v-core. The prescott core CPU (or at least mine anyway) has a throttling temp of 73°C and a shut-down temp of 76°C, so anything below 65°C or so (full load) is perfectly acceptable in most cases. Good Luck! Highly-Annoyed

as others have stated, remove the cooler and clean both the cooler and the cpu with rubbing alcohal, then apply a very small drop of AS5 on the cpu, then reinstall the cooler and tighten it down... tha i would think would drastically lower your temps.... but if it still reaches 60c+ then invest in a BT
