Default Fan Burn Out?

Are there cases where a CPU can malfunction due to being overpushed by a Fan Controller? For example, I have a Fan Controller/Temp Gauge in one of my 5.25 Drive Bay. The highest I can set the fan is at 2600 RPM. Will this messup my fan?

no, it shouldnt screw up, because the fan can only run to its max speed, the only way to go higher would be to increase voltage voer 12v, which im sure would controlller wont do. im pretty sure that if u set your fan controller to 2600, its not going to actually run at that unless those fans are from same company

Thats correct, unless you're giving the fan more than manufacturer's rated voltage, it'll only run it's advertised max speed no matter what the controller says.
