*gasp* No floppy drive? You should always have a floppy drive! Realistically they only serve one purpose these days, updating a bios, but yes, you should have a floppy drive. I would suggest purchasing one from newegg or your local computer store when you get a chance. Now then, understand you can attempt a flash through winflash, and it might work, however, winflash seems to have a higher rate of failure, and thus bios corruption, then using a Floppy Disk.

Lets me try to get this right... Install floppy drive, download BIOS updates, save to floppy, flash using floppy?

That is correct! In order to flash from the floppy just make the floppy the first boot device.

Read your motherboard's manual. The process should be explained in it. Usually, the flash process does indeed use a bootable floppy disk. This disk needs to contain the flash utility (either on the CD-ROM that came with the motherboard, or download from the website of its manufacturer) and the BIOS (the version you want).

Then, boot from the floppy; you'll end up in a DOS environment, or directly in the flash utility. Follow instructions, and do NOT touch your rig once the flashing proces begins.

Now, I believe that if you lack a floppy, you can do it from CD also. Burn a bootable CD with all necesary files, and you should be ready to go.

Well if I go to BIOS I have the option to hit F8 and enter QFlash. From there i have the prompts:

Keep DMI Data [Enabled]
Update BIOS from floppy
Save BIOS to floppy

Is there any reason I need to make the floppy a boot disk also?
