Default What type of BIOS....

should I update to? Can I only go with board manu. or are there different ones to use? This will be my first time updating BIOS ever on any PC. Is there anything imparticular I should watch for or just find the best to dl and go with it?

You should ONLY use the BIOS that is specific for your board! Not doing so will lead to failure (no POST). Go to the website of your motherboard's manufacturer and pick the latest BIOS for your board.

Follow the instructions in the motherboard's manual exactly.

LMAo....Yes what Chozart said on the bios but usually unless yours is severely outdated, your having troubles that a bios may fix or there is a bios modifcation available to give you more options then it is best to stay with what you have....I believe...I may be corrected Down below in a moment...lol

dotcom is correct. And that's why I usually immediately flash the BIOS when I get a new board (the one on this DFI board was so crappy it wasn't even funny).

But realistically... the website of your mobo manufacturer should list what changes/improvements have been made in newer versions, so you could check if there is any real reason to upgrade.

Just one thing to note here, please, please, always flash your bios through the floppy, do NOT use something like winflash. The ONLY time I would update through a windows utility would be if it was supplied with the board (ie, Asus). However, even then I think I would flash with a floppy. Anyways, just beware, winflash might be the easy way out, but it can cause lots of problems.
