Default Cpu Multiplier problem

Hey guys, I've just been getting into overclocking and I seemed to have run into a problem with my bios or something...I have the latest version of Pheonix Award bios.

When I change the multiplier (its called cpu ratio on the bios) to lower than 11x it doesn't seem to change when I go into Cpu-Z it shows 11x still but in the bios it shows 10x is there something I'm missing that should be set in the bios for this setting to stay on....I don't understand why its doing this.

If you might know why that would be great or I'm sure there is a program to change settings like that, but I would rather do it in the bios.

Thanks

dnt understand why your lowering your multipler that low. (unless of course your finding your max FSB). I am confident to say your BIOS is always right. What is cpu-z saying for you clock speed and FSB?

I'm not lowering the multiplier that much am I...from 11 to 10.

Well I think my bios might actually be wrong because when I up the fsb and lower the multiplier the computer has trouble booting wich means it couldn't of changed it....Cpu-z is saying all the correct calculations for the multiplier being 11x....another thing that is odd is check the properties of my computer shows the speed as if the multiplier was working. Ohh well I think I'm ok where its clocked at now anyways

Thanks for the help!

Hi. I've exactly the same problem in my Shuttle SN25P. I've tried some old bios but the problem persists.
Does anybody have any idea?

I have a similar problem which I have explained in detail in a separate thread. I raise my multiplier in the BIOS and the BIOS reflects the new clock speed. However, CPUZ and Everest both report the CPU to be at stock speed.

Even weirder, CPUZ and Everest show overclock if I change the FSB speed.
