Asus M2N-E mobo bios 0802 AMD64 4200+ X2 1 GB ddr2 pc2 6400 2 x 512MB dual channel A-Data Ram My Settings are at: FSB 260 Mhz x 11 Multiplier = 2860Mhz = 2.86Ghz (1.50v) HT Link Is @ 1300Mhz ( HT Link x5) Memory Frequency @ 408.6 Mhz x 2 = 816Mhz / PC2-6400 (1.95V Max with M2N-E Mobo) Ram Timmings 5-5-5-15 2T Your Problem I belive is your ram which is causing your pc to become unstable, I see you have increased your cpu voltage but have you increased your ram voltage another thing i see is your multiplyer is @ 12 try lowering from 12 to 11 to 10 if ur still unable to push it, but before you do that trying increasing your ram voltage and see if that stableizes your pc, with my pc I'm unable to get pass 3 ghz due to the ram voltage problem which has a max of 1.95v, another thing ic ur keeping the ram @ 1:1 ratio try also lowering down to a lower speed like from ddr2800 to 667 that will lower your ram speed leaving you with some OCing to play with, lower ing your multiplier also lowers the ram speed but when increasing your fsb it will increase you ram and everyting on your mobo, well if you have any questions or help you know where to find me, i now have the m2n sli deluxe , i will push it pass the 3 ghz mark now that i have more then enouph ram voltage to do so, hehe GL... |

10x for your reply!
__________________I have tried all the things you have suggested - lower CPU multiplier, higher vdimm, 400/533/667 memory dividers. At the moment I'm stable at 2616 MHz and the RAM at 872 MHz (2.2V vdimm, which is a 0.1V above specs). I purchased a RAM cooler ThermalTake Cyclo, because the memory is overheating under load (no stability problems, but the memory so hot makes me feel uncomfortable). Another very importang thing is how lucky you are when purchasing CPU. There are for example 4200+ CPUs which overclock much better than my 4600+ with exactly the same mobo and RAM. Anyway 8 phase voltage regulators is always better for overclocking the CPU. That's why I said M2N32-SLI is a better overclocker. Let me know if you were able to hit the 3GHz mark with the M2N-SLI Deluxe. Happy overclocking!

I have also the Asus M2N SLI de Luxe mainboard whit a AM2 X2 3800+ winsdor CPU 2x1GB Corsair XMS2 6400C4. The bios settings are auto but if i will change this to manual settings and set the vcore to 1,4 volt, Hardware monitor in the bios will says 1,46v and everest says 1,51v
If i change the vcore to 1,35 in the bios.. hardware monitor will says 1,41volt and everest says 1,48volt Now is the problem how can i secure overlocking the cpu if the vcores are not correct displaying? This is also a problem whit the temps. In stock mode FSB 200 the temps displaying 35c and in full load 55c whit a zallman 9500 cooler. this is also if i change the FSB to 240. Now i will change the auto settings manual but what is the best way to do? |

Going Broke Overclocking
![]() |
Hi and WELCOME to OCN
Depending on the CPU, start with an overall speed like about 2400-2500MHz. Then work up slowly from there, perhaps 5-10MHz and 5 or less as you get to the extreme. Add voltage as needed to the CPU, MB devices. Keep the overall HT speed below 1400MHz. Reduce the HT multiplier as necessary. 1200-1300 works fine, above 1300ish is where instability will occur! Please fill in your "System Specs" as it will help us help you. On the RAM sub timings... it takes work and testing. TRC: low 20 to 26 works well. TRFC: 105 to 127,5 Async, 6-8 Use Orthos Blend Test. If it fail, notive if it mentions RAM or not. If not address the CPU/MB. If it mentions memory, address the RAM. I don't know what RAM you have so I can't reflect much on the voltage settings. D9 ICs work well in the 2.2-2.3v range. Most others don't like over 2v.

Well i'm new to the whole Overclocking business, nor fidldling around with voltages, timings and all that fun stuff.
I have however just invested in some OCZ ram that runs at 2.1v, but the monitoring utility shows that it is running at 1.8v (or at least the timings of the ram running at 1.8v) I have gone into bios and changed the voltage up to 2.0v, however was curious as to if i should up it again to 2.10v. Call me a noob or whatever but genuinely do not know about this at all. Would 2.10v be the optimal settings for the ram? (as it says it runs on 2.1....so yeah little bit of confusion there.) Any suggestions or hints to get it to run at the timings its advertised at? (4-4-4-15) though at the moment it is running at 5-6-5-17 |

Hello,
I don't have the M2N-SLI, I have the M2N32-SLI Deluxe wi-fi. I had run into similar problems with my ram ( or So I thought) Balistix Tracer PC-6400. I had run memtest no errors, But orthos and OCCT would give errors everytime at the recommended voltage of my Ram (2.2V). I could get up to 3.0GHZ on my 5000+ Black edition on 2.2V (ram) Sometimes but above that...No way. Any ways.... It turns out it was not the Ram, Mobo, PSU either.... What caused it was my Bios and the revision it was at (Most recent)...Sometime after Bios up date (1201) Asus Made changes to acomodate new CPU's (Phenoms) and it wreaked havoc trying to get a stable OC. What I had to do was Downgrade my Bios ( about 4-5 editions) Before everything cleared UP and could run how it was supposed too. Maybe your Bios is doing the same thing that mine was doing.....Just a thought. So check out all the editions that your bios has gone thru and maybe down Grade....it Just might Help. I know the frustration....Believe me i do
