Default Bios settings, upgrading motherboard

Simple question but, are bios settings kept when changing/upgrading motherboard? Are the settings stored on the motherboard or something?

All BIOS changes are stored on the CMOS ROM chip on the motherboard itself. If you change the motherboard you will have to enter all your BIOS settings again.

Remember - All motherboards are not the same, This means you might run into problems copying the values exactly

Its easier just starting over with a new mobo
