I assume Crosshair I? Clear CMOS and make sure everything is at stock. Download and reflash.

it's NOT working.

"Downgraded ROM file was not suitable for the system"

that's the message

Maybe it would be a good idea to contact ASUS on this one.. wouldnt want to force an update and bork your board real nice.

Are you attempting to flash via bios, usb stick, or windows?

MAYBE try booting off a usb stick. BIOS internal updating tech is still pretty new and maybe asus hasnt quite gotten it right yet. It worked fine twice for my M2N32 but who konws right. Give it a try.

I had a similar issue when trying to downgrade my bios on my ASUS board. I eventually had to flash the bios from a floppy using the dos utility provided by the ASUS website.

What I did was make a bootable DOS floppy and put the bios file and the update utility on the floppy. After restarting, I booted from the floppy drive and entered the following command: awdflash 1201.bin /f
awdflash was my flash utility
1201.bin was my bios file.
/f is to overwrite the bios check.

This can also be done using a cd by taking the floppy image from above and copying all the files to the cd. Boot from the cd and follow the same steps.

I did the same as 'bremaine' downgraded with floppy in bios.
I dont think you want to use 0904, its ok when it comes to overclock the cpu and ram but the graphics performance is shockingly bad. I ran 3dmark06 on 0904 with defaults and got 5500???!!!! After a bit of research discovered that 0804 was the best well the most stable anyways, downgraded to that ran 3damrk again on defaults and got over 11000!
If you could let us know how the others run that would be great.

Thanks and good luck.....
