Default foxconn a7vmx-k

I am wondering if i would get any benefit out of upgrading the bios.

I have the 3/14/08 version and there are 3 or 4 new versions.

I havent noticed any issues, except my FSB seems to be limited to 260mhz, and its unstable if i go any higher.

I was wondering if u guys would recommend updating the bios.

Do you think this would help with my fsb issue?

this is the page with the bios on it

I just wanted to follow-up with some info about this Foxconn a7vmx-k motherboard and the overclocking success (and failure) i experienced.

As far as overclocking by changing the multiplier- it seems to be limited by the CPU (which is to be expected.)

Overclocking via FSB is where i encountered problem after problem.
I noticed this board was very very picky about which ram it likes to use, The FSB limitations did NOT go away when i updated bios.

It is a good board for a HTPC (its small, and low power), however it is not a good board for any type of overclocking in my opinion.

Buy something else=) you wont squeeze much out of this board without it crying at you with blue screens and Non convergent memory errors=)
(oh and btw, i tested 4 makes/models/speeds of ram, nothing changed)
(1 more thing, i got some 1066 ram hoping to bump the FSB up to match with a good multi to net me some 3200~mhz core and 500~+ mhz memory, No dice. i couldnt even get high-quality 1066 running at above 450mhz stable)

Oh well, live and learn.=)
I will buy a different mobo for this chip just to see how far i can push it before i upgrade, but for now this system does the trick for all of my games in high res.
