EDIT: Wow, this is starting to annoy me. For the fourth time, the VBAT issue raises its ugly head from the bushes of the unknown to mess with my head. It seems no one else has this issue, and so in desperation, I ask for some help with my computer.
__________________------------------------------ Now I feel like an idiot :P It's solved. While I was at another computer to type this, my affected computer was sitting with its power cable out and PSU switch off. Just booted it and everything is hunky-dory. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Hey everyone. I'm new here, and to the whole custom-built computer thing. First of all, when I boot up my computer, the BIOSTAR T-series "would-you-like-to-enter-bios-screen" thing shows up, and goes blank for a second, and then the Hardware monitor shows up on my screen showing everything has a voltage... except for VBAT. the VBAT voltage is just a flashing underscore, and I can't skip it. I have checked that all of my power cables are plugged in all of the way, and have searched frantically across the internet for the problem. My specs are: BIOSTAR TA790GX A2+ AMD Athlon 6000+ Two patriot 2GB RAM 580W PSU XFX NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS I have not tried to overclock the computer (yet)

Well, I suppose not because it's alive and kicking in the other room. And when I rebooted, the sensor told me the voltage just fine. :X. Plus the battery was working fine yesterday, and I recall no signs of needing a replacement.

The signs of it needing replacement is telling you something is wrong during load-up :S
Anyway all is good now

Now I feel like an even bigger idiot. The problem is a recurring one. Don't ask me why, but it seems the solution to this problem is to unplug the power cable for about 10 minutes and then try again. It's worked twice thus far; however, I am beginning to wonder why this is occurring and why it is that I can't find anyone else with the same problem (most people complain of their VBAT "exceeding the limit")

Hey, I have a similar problem! Not sure about your symptoms, I just discovered when I started using Sensors View to check my voltages and temps that my +VBAT is running at .06 V. My -12v is also running at 6.07V, which is WAY high, it should be running somewhere between -15V and -9V.
My issues are that my computer locks up when I try to play my online game, World of Warcraft, often a hard lock. Your thread doesn't mention your symptoms, so I can't say if we are having similar ones. Just know you aren't alone, and I am clueless as to what this all means or what to do about it. |
