Default New Build Issue

I have put all my system specs in my profile.

Here is my motherboard:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128352

This board is supposed to have unlocked multipliers, whatever that means, supposed to be better for overclocking, because it has the 790GX chipset, i guess.

Well I built the system, everything worked fine. I was even able to update the bios through vista 64-bit! NO PROBLEM!

checked all the settings in bios, everything was working at factory maximum settings under "auto"!!

--------------------------------------------------------

Then I added my new XFX 4870 radeon 1GB Video Card:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150339

once I did that, for some reason, bios is loading all the factory minimum settings under "auto".

I have no idea whats wrong, and how to manually set the settings for the cpu ect... i already had to manually set the RAM so it will start working at 1066 again. can someone help me out?

if you dont have a black edition amd cpu than you can only lower the multi. you have to go back to old school FSB or HT overclocking.

Have you tried pressing Ctrl + F1 in the BIOS to open up advanced options?

I have the AMD Phoneme II 940 black edition.
I don't know for sure I just know that after I installed the video card, all the bios settings were at the lowest possible settings. I had to manually set the memory back to 1066.

I don't want to overclock just yet, i just want the mother board to work in the proper voltage for the cpu, memory, and everything else. I can upload a picture of the bios if that will help anything.I think it said that my cpu frequency was at 200MHz. is that right? or is that way low?

Ctrl + F1... i'm not familiar with that, I don't really know a whole lot about bios.

Default Pictures

Remember I have a AMD Pheome II 940 black edition CPU with a cooler master II heatsink.

My bios is updated the F3, the most current.

I want to make sure everything is set right.
I know after I installed my video card, all the settings were automatically set to the lowest factory settings on the motherboard.

I had to manually set the RAM clock to the speed it's supposed to be at.

I don't want to overclock just yet, I want to make sure all the settings are right for the cpu to properly run at the speeds it was designed to.

Here are pictures of my bios settings after I installed the XFX 4870 1GB XXX Video card:

Heres the main screen:

I want to make sure this is right:

and this:

Is this setting right? I'm not sure if its detecting the video card PCIE clock right:

I don't know what this is, is auto ok?

I can change all of these settings too, but I don't know anything about them:

Do I leave this alone?:

stock the cpu clock ratio is 14(not sure what stock 940 speeds are). northbridge ratio leave to auto. pci express is 100mhz. dont up that. ht link freq leave at auto. your mem should run fine 2.0v with 5-5-5-15-24 settings.also i forget exactly where the option is, but turn your onboard gpu off completely and that will help a whole lot with keepin the northbridge cool.

is 200 MHz right for the CPU frequency?

yep. since you got a black edition processor you dont even have to touch that part if you want to make things simple. its unforunate that amd seems to be stuck with the concept of a 200fsb processor and not releasing them with a higher FSB. another reason why intel had throroughly trounced amd these past couple of years.
