Default BOIS Flashing?

I need to flash my Bios fron the current F2 version to the F6 version. My MOBO is the Gigabyte GA-MA78G-DS3H. I need to flash the Bios for the Phenom2 940 to work with this MOBO. I already have the correct F6 bios on a Fat 32 flash Drive. My question is do I clear CMOS then flash biso? After Bios is flashed I go into new bios and Load Optimized defaults? Do I need to clear cmos again after F6 flash? Thanks in advance for the help.

Its recommended that you clr the CMOS and go into the bios to adjust your RAM to the correct values. reboot and flash. after the reboot, go into bios and do "load optimized defaults" and go into windows. You're done.

What's the best way to clear cmos? Shut down the computer turn off PSU, unplug PSU then remove the Battery for a while?

The BIOS Flash from F2 to F6 was a complete success. I didn't think that it was that easy but I grew some balls and did it myself. My local computer shop wanted to charge me $100cdn to do this flash, now I can spend that money on something else for my computer.

You did the right thing checking up and doing the flash yourself. If your local shop was going to charge you $100 they must have been expecting their BIOS flash to go wrong in the first place, destroy your board then factor in the cost of a replacement too. Your certainly in the right place for information now though and could perhaps say bye bye to that shop apart from perhaps some bits and bobs when necessary. Sounds like it would certainly save you money

This is the best place on the net for information on computers and as for my local shop I don't think I'll be taking my comp in anytime soon. I still might buy certain things there though as they are still helpfull to me. Thanks OCN for giving me my balls back.

and to think we did not even put them on a cold platter.

I'm glad to hear of your moral & financial victory over your local ripoff PC shop for a 5 minute bios upgrade.

Now to what upgrade to you owe the honor???

Inquiring minds want to know.
