What are the correct/best settings for these options???
"HPET" ( on/off )
"Slot1 Gen_2 High-Speed Mode" ( Automatic/Disabled/Software Initiated/Advertised RC )
"Slot2 Gen_2 High-Speed Mode" ( Automatic/Disabled/Software Initiated/Advertised RC )
"Slot3 Gen_2 High-Speed Mode" ( Automatic/Disabled/Software Initiated/Advertised RC )
"Slot4 Gen_2 High-Speed Mode" ( Automatic/Disabled/Software Initiated/Advertised RC )

My questions are...
1. I know that "HPET" is "High Precision Event Timer", but I have been unable to find a clear discription as to what it really means (in laymans terms) and whether or not it should be on or off. I have read that WinXP does not make use of this and it may cause issues. I have also read that XP(sp2+) added a driver to make use of this. Can someone clarify this? Not specifics, but just what "should" the setting be on my system? What are the repercussions of having it on/off?
2. I understand that "Gen_2 High-Speed Mode" is referring to PCI-E 2.0. But what setting should I choose? I have noticed strange clock effects on my 4890 when its on auto, and when disabled my pc becomes very lethargic. I cannot really tell the difference between "Software..." or "Advertised RC" but I've read that "Software" is the best setting at some places/forums and others state that "Auto" is best. I have not seen the "Advertised RC" discussed anywhere else on the net. Again, can someone help to clarify this? What should "I" be using?

Anyone?? I'm really at a loss here, and dont want the wrong setting(s) to cause problems down the road! I cant find info on this stuff anywhere and the mobo manual may have well been written in swahili!
