Default Boot Sector Protection... on/off?

Under the main options for my K9A2, it has the option...

"Boot Sector Protection" ( on/off )

I'm guessing this just locks the MBR or partition data?
I do know that I had to turn this ON to install windows, or for whatever reason I got a screen telling me that my disk was not sufficient for loading windows, and installation would not continue, blah blah blah.

So now that windows is installed and running, should this be on or off? I dont plan on doing any further partitioning, and unless a drive craps out and my raid-0 array goes bottom-up... I dont see myself changing any drives or other settings anytime soon.

Thanks in advance!

It keeps data from being written to the boot sector. You can turn it on if it makes you feel safer. Some viruses can infect the boot sector if they get past your A/V software.

I see, thanks! I guess then system-wise, it is really just preference and wont affect anything performance-wise, no? Simple enough!
