The F2C BIOS provided by TheCh3F is identical to the 2nd and 3rd links given by Lifeblood. (1st link is a 54mb file ) .. all are the original US English F2C version as provided by Gigabyte before they yanked it from their support site.

I've checked the hashes of all of them, so take your pick.

Thanks for the info. I just bought the board for a build. I wanted to try and take advantage of the 550. I hope it works out, since I am building this pc for a customer.

I'm using the f2c BIOs and want to open my 550 3rd and 4th cores. When I have the ACC set to Auto and Hybrid. It says on the right hand side under Hybrid " System will take soom time for EC firmware replacing" Can anyone tell me approx how long firmware replacing will take? and how do I go about it? I mean do I set it at Auto and Hybrid and ESC , then hit F10? or is there more to do?

The EC firmware replacing is automatic when you save your changes and exit the BIOS. All you have to do is hit F10 then sit back and wait.

any way to disable a faulty core on a x2 550? so, if i did that i'd end up with a tri-core. the 4th core keeps getting errors on occt.

Interesting post in Newegg's reviews claims that the F2 BIOS does unlock the additional cores:

Bought this board for the explicit reason of unlocking the Callisto 550 BE to a quad core... it works. FYI, DO NOT use the windows bios flashing, use Q-Flash. Total setup cost $170 which is how much Newegg is now selling a combo for now (wish I had waited) but still love this deal. Board came with F1 bios but download the F2 bios from Gigabyte's website and you are good. USE Q-FLASH, trust me.

Yes, some MB's BIOS have a feature called Processor Downcore that lets you turn off any core you like.
I saw someone mention being able to do it in AOD profiles, but not sure about that.

I have this motherboard with the F2c bios.

If you are having trouble unlocking the dormate core with ACC hybrid enable... most likely you forgot to increase the CPU volts. Since unlocking it to a quad it is still running the same amount of volts as a dual core. Increase it to 1.45V theres a high probability it will be stable. I OC mine to 3.7GHz at 1.45V.

If the F2c bios is still not working out even with the increase volts my only other idea is the this thing call microcodes or something that AMD wants vendros to change to stop people from unlocking. From an interview with gigabyte (too lazy to find the link) Gigabyte meantion if they are force to block unlocking it won't stop you from using the back-up bios (which has the original microcodes) to replace the main bios. Then you flash the main bios to F2c and your back in business. This is just me pondering though.
