Default so here is my BIOS for you guys to look at

well, Im stuck on a retail board, and have seen dozens of people that were able to unlock "hidden" overclocking options. my computer is slower then molasses in january, and I think it would be sweet to be able to raise the bar a bit

I have no clue how to read and edit hex stuff

any one on here wanna take a gander at it?

http://rapidshare.com/files/278834014/CURRENTbios.zip

thanks in advance.

-Matt

Since it is an HP motherboard, see if MSI released the board commercially (probably under a different model name). Once you find the exact model, try to flash it to that bios. It should probably work, but there is also a chance you could completely brick the board.

This Bios should work with your MB. I take no responsibility for the use of this but it is straight from MSI and matches the MB line that you are using.

emachines, compaq, and HP all used the same MODEL board (MS-7148) but each had its own bios

I cannot use an HP one, and MSI does not have one available for my computer, I emailed them directly and they said it wouoldnt work.

I did post this on a bios foruum, they compared quite a few BIOS's and did alter mine for ram timings, but they said they were not able to look for CPU for some reason.

is there anyone here whpo wishes to see the "modified" BIOS and see if they can find something the other group couldnt see?

Well MSI made the board. So if you really wanted to, try use the one I posted because its for the consumer version of your MB. Otherwise get some bios editing tools and try to do it yourself. There are tutorials for several bios hacks but more than likely its a fully striped bios that you would have to add features to, not just turn them on.

the consumer edition of my board isnt compatible, it has a different chipset, mine being RS400, the consumer being RS480 or RS 482

Do you have a spare bios chip?

Have you tested this modded bios?

Link to the site thread where the guys modded this one.

I checked it out and indeed the modules are stripped out and not just enableable.

What you would have to do is get the modules for your chipset and add them and add the options for them and then calculate a new crc table.

alot of work.

Here is a tutorial thread. http://www.rebelshavenforum.com/sis-...;f=52;t=000103

This goes without saying but
1. If you can't afford to lose it don't mod or OC it.

I had it done here

http://www.biosmods.com/showthread.php?tid=609

I tried looking at rebels haven, but it wouldnt let me register, the webmaster only allows friday night through saturday night for registration due to server costs and troll problems

Im currently on the modified BIOS. it allows very few items to be successfully changed. whenevr I try to go from stock 2.5 cas and 200mzh for the ram, to 3 and 216, it wont boot till I pull the power, pull the battery, press the powerbutton to drain any power remiaining, and letting it sit for 20-30 minutes

lemme know if you wanna take a gander at the modified BIOS

I do not have a spare BIOS chip, but mine is socketed, so has potential to be easily 'repaired' at the local computer shop if necessary. I put a copy of my original BIOS on CD and flashdrive just in case that occurs

I did look at it, in the middle of my post above yours.

I wrote the first 3 lines then decided to look at it before posting and added the rest of my post. I should have fixed the first three lines to reflect that.

But as I said the modules are stripped out but they can be taken from another bios and inserted. But that is a bit of work. and that is what I linked for you.

Maybe the guys at biosmods can add the modules for you?
