Default Amd X2 Budget Build Log Suggestions

I reside in Canada so newegg will not work for me. Anyways, I am purchasing a new PC and have $1210 to use for it. I came up with a list of components.

NoName suggests any random brand that is cheap.

Is opteron 248, 246, 144 (any) better than the AMD processor I chose?

I am looking to purchase mainly from TigerDirect.ca / Canadacomputers.com as they are close.

Any suggestions?

6800 XT's in SLI arnt worth it.

Also get AM2, its so when K8L comes around you could use your AM2 system with it. It'll save you money in the long run, plus it outperforms 939.

Hey check out my budget X2 build thread "Thoughts?" for some ideas. You could just upgrade some of my parts for your build. Hope that helps.

I'm looking to satisfy my budget. So far, I have not found an AM2 SLI compatible motherboard for around the same price as the socket 939. I can switch around the parts but am unsure of which to change.

I am going to get a 550W PSU. I'm not sure of the brand though.

The 246 and 248 are the OLD 940 socket and do not fit the new AM2 940 socket. The 165 or 170 are the current 939 X2 with 2x1024 L2 cache that you would be considering.

2xs 7600GT will be awsome, I have 1 and I play CCS on 1280x1024, all high settings, works great. I also play BF2, NFSMW, and FEAR. Never had a single problem with it.

I plan to use a Sunbeam Tech Nuuo 550W psu. SLI certified and performs great!
