Default My AM2 Build

Cpu: AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Windsor
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103735

Mobo: ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131013

Ram: Need suggestions

Gpu: Geforce 7800gt (Already have)

HD: Seagate Barracuda (Perpendicular Recording Technology) 320GB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148140

PSU: I'm not sure about the quality of mine so I need to know if I should get it replaced. This is what I have: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817182003

All I need is suggestions for ram and I should be all set. Other then that is there anything that I should change?

Edit: I expect good things out of this processor. I've seen a lot of people oc it to 3.0ghz and I want to do the same. I have a thermaltank armor with the 250mm fan and a ZALMAN CNPS7700-CU 120mm (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835118115) so my proc should be pretty cool. So any suggestions on what I can do to get a good oc out of it would be very helpful.

Is this all new stuff you are buying?

If so, I would say that conroe might be something to look into.

If you are hellbent on taking advantage of the AMD price drops, then your processor looks fine. Gskill seems to be the hot name for RAM right now, and I could see if you could get 2 gigs of DDR667, budget allowing. That will probably be a big help with games. OCZ and Enermax are two really good brands for PSUs. If you are looking for something upgradable, look into something a bit higher than 500 watts.

Dont forget about fans, thermal paste, and aftermarket heatsinks. They can really add up in cost in a hurry.

you WILL ! need a better power suply, got for a antec 450 true power thats around 60 or so dollars, don't look at the total watts it can pump out but at the 12v rail and the other rails to, 28amps would be sufficent to power your futer rig

I forgot to mentiont that I am on a budget and don't want to spend any more then $450. So I'm probaly going to have to stick with 1gb of ram to do that.

I suggest squeezing out a little bit more money and getting the X2 4000+.

http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Produc...ctCode=80724-9

It's about 40 more than the 3800+ and has 2MB Cache as opposed to 1MB.

As for your powersupply, you need another one. But since you're on a budget, of course stick w. what you have.

As for memory, check out Patriot: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820220094

Well, its already got a theorhetical +~400MHz on it because of the 2MB of cache rather than the 1MB.

And I haven't personally read any reviews on it, but from common sense facts, it's the better processor of the two. It has the same core so I suspect that it will have the same overclocking potential as the 3800+.

Further evidence why AM2 isn't worth it right now, you can get an X2 4800+ on Socket 939 for less than that.
