I found that to be the case with the NF3 chipset versus the 945 chipset. ANd now it seems the 965 walks all over the Nf4. Oh well. On the other hand I am running my RAM at DDR555 LOL and loving that. I got it to run Benchmarks at 312 without a hiccup. DDR 624? Nuff said.

The Sli-NF4 is very sneeky...
I've started parting out my MSI rig for new parts...should've gone with the X2... I can always get an AM2 rig though... The Silicon Raid seems to perform much better...as NvRAID sucks tryin' to get it "bursting" correctly...older chipset drivers work for it but not for everything else. A ill-fated combo that I can't remember has mine working with the 2 drives better than usual I guess...

Yeah I need to obliterate some bandwidth benchmarks and this board is not going to cut it. I will give it a fair shake--but if it does not perform out it goes. I have a feeling nothing short of a PCIx slot for my SCSI HBA will satisfy me...
But until I build and bench it is mere specualtion. I'v been told by those in the know that the only way to really bring it to the stratosphere is to use Areca SATA controllers. So that might be next...I did find one Asus Workstation that has the right features...but I was hoping to be able to work with the gear I have scored here at OCN...

Going Broke Overclocking
![]() |
Sorry I was not around CD
![]() For some odd reason, the DFI seems to want you to load the NF SATA/RAID drivers 2x. When you load them the first time and it asks you to continue, chose the 'Load Drivers" a second time... after they load the second time click to continue the OS install. A good read by ncsa too http://www.overclock.net/faqs/38268-...roduction.html and how to find the maxes on the major components... having each ones abilitys make for an easier over OC. http://www.overclock.net/faqs/31782-...pu-memory.html

yeah the X2 Clocks pretty decent. 25% is pretty decent.
I gave up on NVraid Duke and am using the Silicon Image controller--works okay--but the Burst rate is low. 89 MB/s for RAID10 with 4 Raptors is low I think. We'll see is I can get some traction with the X1950pro in a Crossfire set up on the DFI board...never know until you try. I just got another one to do just that.

The NForce can handle the OCing, the SI is not known to keep a stable bus speed
Perhaps you can install the drivers through windows, I've not tried that yet, just a suggestion

Well $200 later I have a pair of 1950 pro cards but even though both cards will fire up I apparently am getting no Crossfire--even thoght the 1950 is the new generation card that needs no master card. I tried jumpering for dual lanes and various settings in BIOS but to no avail. Apparently they will not run in Crossfire...in fact my 3DMark06 scores were lower with both cards...
Still not finding a good way to OC the cards either as ATI tool and ATI tray tools are both not quite ready for the 1950. Oh well--now I have a card for yet another rig. On a bright note I was able to get a much better HD bench--122 MB/s burst and 112 average--which is almost as good as regular SATA drives in RAID. I dunno--this DFI board is starting to look more and more like a Folding rig--not really worthy of living in the Antec 900 IMO... Not sure where to head with the build at this point--I am toying with geting the new 680 board by EVGA and going ahead and juimping onto the Core Duo bandwagon....it's not that the X2 isn't fast--it's the crappy NF4 chipset with it's lame 8x 8x SLI...and poor controllers. May skip using onboard controllers altogether and build on a more serious mobo with PCIx so I can run a proper SATA controller from Areca. $700 dollars in hard drives and all I get is 122 mbs? I don't like that at all...
