Well I am starting to get into these AMD chips guys--so many more things to tweak!
And even wierder is my shift from Asus to DFI... And even though I am still pretty hardcore ATI ATM this will be my first SLI rig--even though it is a bit dated and only 8X per lane running Dual GFX cards. Without further delay allow me to introduce my new daily driver: Velocitor. The heart and soul of this rig is an X2 3800+ riding on a LanParty NF4 SLI-DR backed up by G Skill DDR 500 modules and spinning XP pro on some seriously fast platters: a pair of Cheetah SCSI drives (u320 on an LSI HBA in RAID 0) and a foursome of Raptors (74GB) in RAID 0 just for storage PC Power & Cooling 510 SLI provides the fat flat rails. Pumping out the pixels I have for the moment an ATI X1950pro soon to be replaced by a pair of Nvidia products of an unspecified nature....spewing out the rich ATI color is my spanky new 22" LCD which I am still throbbing over... From the pounding my wallet took that is...why o why are 22" monitors soooooo much more than the 20.1" monitors? 24" is ludicrous...but maybe one day...I decided to step up my game with a Razer Copperhead and a Saitek Eclipse2. All that I am lacking is a phatty surround sound and some gaming skills...LOL I have assembled the rig and built the arrays and everything is okay. I still have not had the time to Load XP--that is my project for tonight. I will post some pictures of Velocitor ASAP. ![]() EDIT: Boy has this rig come a long way from these first posts...

well....you could have avoided the x8 x8 SLi by going with my motherboard. The ASUS A8N32-SLi Deluxe

4 Raptors in RAID0 just for storage? 22" LCD?
This is going to be quite the rig Druid! I should really get working on my RAID setup as well as my monitor upgrade. Looking forward to all the details! Make sure to post lots of pics.

EDIT: Okay I check it out LOL--and I wouldn't take your stinky old A8N32SLI ove rmy lovely DFI for any money. JK I actually have an A8NSLI and an A8N32SLI--but I like this DFI board better--better options--better components --better looking--better overclocker. It's just BETTER.....

![]() I have repeatedly tried to load Xp on the array--but no luck. No f6 response nothing. XP just wants to load onto the indivdual Raptor. Until I get the CD I was supposed to get with my LSI HBA no OS on the SCSI array either. This sucketh. Tried a USB adapter for the keyboard even...nothing. Why can I not load XP onto the NVRAID array? And why hno f6 response after pounding on the damn key a million times? When I just leave the floppy in it does try and get the drivers--but it gets this error at the end... ![]() Anyway--it's still a nice looking rig--even if I can't boot into Xp LOL ![]() ![]() ![]() Not too bad considering I spent only a few hours assembling it... The 80 pin SCSI drive use backplane adapters and a ribbon cable--the ribbon actually was better for managing in the tight space by the PSU.

No luck whatsoever with loading onto the NV array--this has happened to me before--last time I just used the SiS controller and had nary a problem. Me and Nvidia just don't get along...
Anyhoo I am now doing a low level format on all the Raptors just for good luck before building a RAID 0 array on the Silicon RAID controller. I really hope it goes well...I want to bring Velocitor to life tonight! EDIT: It only took me three months and a different set of drivers for the F6 disk to get NV RAID to work--a real walk in the park.

All right then I have finally gotten Velocitor online! Currently posting on the fastest PC I have ever used...
The Netgear wireless is much better than the Dlink. I am able to get a signal from the livingroom! **** no more crouching beside the fridge...LOL Decided to Set up a RAID 10 array instead of the RAID 0--no particular reason--I just never had a chance to bench one before so I am in the process of DLing some bench SW and will soon post the results. Judging from the load time on XP these drives are doing the job! Man that was a hassle--I have yet to get an NV RAID set up together--just glad the SiS works perfectly. EDIT: Lolzors the SiS would not reload when I had to reformat. So I made the NVRAID work instead...

I am really happy it works at all...LOL What a PITA/
DLing the Futuremark Benchmarks now--let's see what 3DMark06 looks like. Gonna run a series of baseline benches first--then try ot the OC action. With the BT only spinning at 980 RPM I am still getting decent temps--I think I will have plenty of headroom for some overvolting... Not a clue what to do with the X2 as far as settings go,,, where's Probn4lyfe when you need him?

As a starting point:
HTT: 4x FSB: 250 Multi: 10x divider: 1:1 vCore: stock should manage @ only 2.5GHz. Maybe add 0.05-0.075v That alone should get you rolling @ 2500 MHz, and from there, I'd suggest dropping the divider a notch, to slow down the RAM, dropping the HTT to 3x, and slowly raising FSB from that point. Depending on stepping, you should be good to 2.6 or 2.7 fairly easy.
