The Old s939 Gaming rig thread! A little background info: Hey guys. I decided to make a little build log for my old AMD build. I'm always adding things to it and I'd like to keep an overclocking log here. I've had this computer for just about 2 years now, even though it's been totally revamped. The only thing that's still original in it is..well...the case! I have replaced everything in it in the past 2 years and it's never failed me yet. I've only recently been overclocking it and I think I've hit it's max. Unless I get new RAM I don't think I'll be getting any higher!Update December 30th, 2007 - Stable @ 2.8Ghz! NEW NEWS! I got it (fairly?) stable at 2.8Ghz! Here's the proof: http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=289741 ![]() ![]() That is probably the last stability test I will ever do on this processor. ![]() Update December 29th, 2007 - Antec 900 pics Hole pics: ![]() ![]() ![]() Will get more pics of the final product tomorrow when it's actually light in here o.o Update December 28th, 2007 - Bought an Antec 900! Well, finally updating this thread since it's been a while Today I bought an Antec 900 and tomorrow hopefully I'll be cutting some holes in it and installing my components Should be done by tomorrow!Update December 7th, 2007 - Lowered ram timings Well today I lowered my ram timings to 2.5-3-3-6 and tried it at 1T and it worked! Instead of the default 3-3-3-8 I had before. Here's a comparison of my old ram timings at 2t, and the new ram timings at 1t! ![]() Update December 4th, 2007 - Side panel fan...wth? I'm pretty ticked off right now...Me and my dad just spent 2 hours cutting out this fan hole, mounting it and everything...and it doesn't make any difference in my temps? This is just dumb and I'm starting to think my temps will never go under 30C at idle... We cut the hole out with a CNC milling machine, mounted it...and it doesn't even have a fan grill on it! Just the fan blowing in (suppose to be?) cool air...but no difference in temps. It blows air DIRECTLY onto my Zalman...Shouldn't this atleast decrease it by 1C?...Also, for some reason, in Everest, my core temps will be 38C one second, and then 28C the next, all at idle...is there something wrong here?... Update December 3rd, 2007 - Overclocked to 2945Mhz - Not stable, though! So I got my 4600+ Manchester core to 2945Mhz and to boot into windows and do small tasks (validate CPU-Z, browse Overclock.net, etc). Here's my proof! http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=276669 I tried to get it closer to 3Ghz but it just wouldn't cut it. I know it's my ram that's holding me back, unfortunately. Tomorrow, I'll be cutting a fan hole in my side panel so I can fit my new Stealth fan in there. I will be using my dads CNC milling machine, so, it should go pretty smoothly as long as it's clamped down tight! We tested cutting circles with the CNC machine on a piece of acrylic to see if it would crack, but it didn't! Hopefully this will add a lot more cold air to my Zalman and thus give me better temps. ![]() Update November 23rd, 2007 - Overclocked more. Yesterday night I had upped my Vcore to 1.425V, and lowered my OC to 2.8Ghz on the spot. I now have a 2 hour stable oc (didn't test for any longer). ![]() And the benches: ![]() W00t I'm happy ![]() Update November 22st, 2007 - Overclocked more. Today I reapplied some AS5 and reseated the Zalman to see if I would get some better temps, but it didn't seem to help. I upped my Vcore a bit and it's now at 1.425V and at 2.82Ghz It should be stable but I have to test it tomorrow. Before that I had upped the Vcore a little bit, tested it at 2.8Ghz, but it was only stable for 26 minutes, so I upped the Vcore a little more than that and added 2Mhz to the FSB, so it's now running at ~2820Mhz and at 34-35C at idle.![]() Update November 21st, 2007 - Overclocked more. Today I overclocked my CPU more than before! Now it's sitting at 2735mhz. I tried to get it higher but I would just keep getting BSOD after BSOD...I just got my new Zalman CNPS9700 LED, and to tell you the truth, I'm in love It idles around the same as my stock cooler, but it's around 19c cooler under 100% load. I can actually run Orthos for two hours now (stopped it cause I was bored), and my temps will never go above 43c ![]() More to come! ![]()

Oh yea. For some reason when I posted a second post with "Reserved.
" in it, it posted that one above my first post, so I had to change them around.
