Hi i'm pretty new to overclocking i've done a little on older stuff but nothing quite so new i got this machine around a year ago basiclly just to play Wow and its been great just i wanna oc it now
__________________ . evrything is stock at this moment even the cpu cooler. To start i will be ungrading the cpu cooler for Scythe Infinity i already have 4x 120mm fans in my case so i think for wat i want to do cooling should be fine (fingers crossed) if any1 has anything to say about it it would be much appreciated. Ok then i should tell u wat i've got in mind. I wanna overclock my cpu to around 2.4 Ghz, which from wat i've read is well within it capabilities. What i would love is for someone who has this cpu clocked at this speed to post there settings and i will the play a little with it to gett he best from my machine if that is possible? if not any input would be great Hopefully my Machine and wat i have in it should be at the bottom of this if not i will post them Thankyou for your time hope to hear from you soon

Ok in a nutshell (assuming you have read the guides) run you RAM on a divider to lower its speed (EG for 800mhz run it at 667 instead) then incease the FSB by 5 or 10mhz, then boot into windows and run prime or orthos for 20mins to check for stability
__________________Continue increasing the FSB until it fails a stability test, when it does increase the core voltage (Vcore) and try stability testing again, continue this process until it is unstable or you temps are too high, for this chip try to stay below 50C at full load if you can Also remember the HT link which runs at 1000mhz standard, this will be a 5x multi, as you increase the FSB its sped will increase, try to keep it below 1200, one it reaches this speed you will need to lower the multi down to 4x otherwise it will become unstable... Any questions

First things first. HTT IS NOT the same as FSB (Front Side Bus).
__________________HTT stands for Hyper Transport Tunnel ( commonly known as Hyper Transpirt link speed). My advice.. Ignore everything posted prior to this. http://www.overclock.net/amd-general...formation.html I may be flamed for that but the fact remains that without a understanding of the various functions of your BIOS and how the settings work your a fish out of water.

one other quick question is it say amd 64's fsb are downward multiplyable so i take that means u can go form the norm 10X down and then back up to 10 without havein to reset the bios? is that right ?? hope that make sense to you
