If you live in a state that has Frys, go check out their combo deals. I got the very best AMD dual, a mobo, and 1 GB of PC8000 ddr2 for 230$, and that was months ago. I see deals up there these days that are insane!!

If you're an overclocker, get a cheap AMD BE series (LOW WATT or Black) and OC it to the moon. Or get one of those uber overclocking pentium dual cores like the 2180.

Shop around, post some links and I'll let you know if they are good deals. I always suggest AMD first because I like to support the little guy and pump up the competition. After all if AMD had never come around we would be OCing our NetBurst or some other single core, hot, power hungry garbage.

Wow, the hdd is HUGE

As you can see, it can be done. Any of the E2xxx CPU's is a good choice and the DS3L is good as well. Keep in mind, you can find great deals used. I sold a DS3L, E2140 (that can OC to 3.5) and 2x1gb ballistix for $160 a month or so ago. Just be patient and take the deals where you find them.

You can get an 8800GTS 320MB for 100$.... That's about twice as good as an 8600.
