Default $600 build for a friend

i'm getting all the parts for my friend and building it for him, he wants to use AMD and ATI, he's kind of a casual gamer, he want's to build this with as little money as possible, but his maximum budget is $600, so some help would be great. this machine will of course use vista (which he already has) and he wanted atleast a raid 0, but if i can't get that to fit in to the budget then i'll get him one of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136218. all comments appreciated, rep+ for anyone who can find a good deal on stuff. thanks.

I hate to "stir the pot," but I would go with Intel and Nvidia.

Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128059
CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819116052
GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130318
RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231098
PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817153023
Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811119068
HDD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148262
Optical: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827129018

$595.92

The reason for going with Intel and Nvidia, is that you can't beat the performance/price ratio.

I'm not very familiar with AMD/ATI hardware. Do you know why he wants to go that route versus Intel/Nvidia?

Not to be a fanboy or anything , but the 8800gt usually gets 10-20 more fps in games than the 3870, which are around the same price. And you can ask anyone how much of a monster the e2180 is.

That's funny I made the above thread for a $600 AMD Build, maybe it has some ideas in it.

^^ kenny, can we kind of cut the fanboy crap? i just need some recommendations on some hardware, and if you don't that much about AMD cpus or ATI cards then just dont post anything, because i'll just ask some one else on their own experiences, etc.

EDIT: thanks Modki, but i think he wants the 7XX series mobos. also he said he wanted this case:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811119152

Sorry if I snapped a little bit, but I wanted to show him that you can get a better performance/price ratio with going Intel/Nvidia.

The difference in performance is minimal in my opinion. Yes, the E2180 is good but you need to be able to overclock for that. Can his friend overclock? That is the question I'd be asking first and foremost.
