Default The history of my Hades..

So yeah, I started off with NO budget and got a 5600+ w/ ECS Board, and 2gb ADATA DDR2-800 (6-6-6-18 !!! )

I had a 400gb and 250gb hdd from my previous machine, an OEM p4 3.2, so I used those drives, and a P.O.S. power supply until I could get something better.

Next on my list was extreme cooling, so I grabbed up the Antec 900 Case.

Evercool WC-202 liquid set for water cooling, big mistake, but it works better than stock at least.

Then came the Samsung SH-S203B 20x DVD DL burner

Went on to get a GeForce 8600GT by Palit.

Then my 500gb hdd by hitachi (I love hitachi)

Just after the hard drive came my 4x1gb of Crucial Ballistix, and a Cooler Master blue LED fan to supplement the 3 Tricools in the 900...

Then the king of the crop, dont know how I managed to afford this, but my M2N32-SLI Premium Vista Edition. NUTS!!!!

Replaced my Diablo 550w No-Name PSU for an OCZ StealthXStreme 600w Quad Rail SLI Cert.

After that, it was time for some serious modding. My poor Antec 900 has been dremeled to the point my dremel is dead now. I cut 3 cable management holes, plus a flip psu mod. Ripped that case apart right down to the frame and spray painted it jet black. And added dual 12 inch UV cold cathodes.

After the modding was done, I received my new dvd burner, Samsung TruDirect Lightscribe 20x DVD DL Burner

On its way to me is an eVGA 8800GT SC. Cant wait to try out crysis!

What do you think I should upgrade next? I dont need any more hdd space for now, as thats only one machine, ive got about 6 other machines here each with nice hard drives. 4gb of ram is enough, 8800 is nice, no way im gonna afford a 9800 so that eliminates video.

I was thinking of CPU, worth it to upgrade from 5600+ to 6400+ ? And how much of an OC can I get from 6400+ cpu?

Before the cpu, I do have one small project to finish... Custom LED feet. The feet are already done, I am just trying to figure out what I can use as my 3v source. I dont want to tap into my ATX header, so I was thinking of using a SATA Power adapter, but where on earth can I get a female SATA power adapter?

Pics of my rig to come shortly.

If you can bear it, i would consider changing to core2. Not just becuase i own one but they give an incredible performance boost. If you don't want to (and i can understand because you have an AM2 motherboard) then i would go for a 2nd monitor. I have 2 and im never going back!

There is no sense of upgrade from 5600+ to 6400+. If you really want to upgrade then go for a quad core. I've just upgraded from 4200+ to phenom 9500. Ocing it from 2.2 to 2.82 on air.

If I do an upgrade which requires a motherboard upgrade I will be going intel... I can resell this board and chip for a decent dollar and could pay the difference on a pretty decent intel setup, but i would like to avoid motherboard replacement for the time being. I havent even had this motherboard for 2 months yet...

To throw a phenom on this board would be kinda useless as it doesnt have ht3...

Yap NO HT 3.0 for this board. Good point. So wait a bit more and then go for an upgrade. Intel or AMD.
