Default New Build should it be better?

I built a new system a lil while ago bout 3 months and have been hopeing the drivers would get it goin better.

amd athlon64 x2 6400+
Gigabyte ma-790x mainboard
msi radeon 3870x2
8gb ddr2 6400 (4 x 2gb)
4 x sata2 drives (2x160gb, 400gb, 500gb)

on 3dmark vantage i get 6700
on 3dmark 06 it was about 13000

its not overclocked yet as i have heard it wont overclock well. but does anyone have any ideas if its doin good or bad. any sujestions on bios settings or anything to help performance would be apreciated. even comments on what you think of the scores or system its self are fine.

I think at stock the scores are ok. The CPU holds you back in a major way in terms of 3DMark (but will be fine in gaming... I assume you get decent frame rates in most games )

Overclock the thing. Who cares what people say. A moderate overclock is still better than no overclock at all. And you never know

Overclock but take your time and read up on everything.

I'm like you, I've had my rig for a couple months and now I'm starting to get into OCing.

my last system had an x2 4600+ i think i overclocked it like 200 mhz with just the fsb.

what about the ram and all i read sum things about having to lower the speed of the ram and everything aswel?

i use my system alot and the how to's on overclocking are all like overclock 5 mhz stress test for 12 hours or whatever then another 5 mhz and repeat but i dnt have the time for that as i use my computer alot. so not 2 sure how or what to do.

i did the crysis benchmark i attached the 2 benchmarks i did 1 with the catalyst 8.4 and 1 with the 8.6 betas open them with wordpad if u want and see what u think of the scores on the settings i did. thanx.
